Always on My Mind [Video Mix] Lyrics

[Intro: Neil Tennant, Chris Lowe, Joss Ackland]
I smell youth, vintage youth
Where are you from?
Yes, where are you from?
I'm glad you asked me twice. You see, I'm a bilingual. I'm a bilingual illiterate. I can't read in two languages
Do you drink?
No thank you, it's very nice. I'll get the weight up
Ah, ohohoh, I love the radio!

[Verse 1: Neil Tennant]
Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could

[Pre-Chorus: Neil Tennant]
Little things I should have said and done
I never took the time

[Chorus: Neil Tennant]
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

[Verse 2: Neil Tennant]
Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
[Pre-Chorus: Neil Tennant]
If I made you feel second best
I'm so sorry I was blind

[Chorus: Neil Tennant]
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

[Post-Chorus: Neil Tennant]
Tell me
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me
One more chance to keep you satisfied
Satisfied

[Pre-Chorus 1: Neil Tennant]
Little things I should have said and done
I never took the time

[Chorus: Neil Tennant]
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

[Post-Chorus: Neil Tennant]
Tell me
Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me
One more chance to keep you satisfied
[Chorus: Neil Tennant & Joss Ackland]
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

[Interlude: Chris Lowe, Joss Ackland]
Where are you going?
I'm going there. But I like it here, wherever it is

[Verse 3: Neil Tennant]
Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could

[Verse 4: Neil Tennant]
Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
[Outro: Joss Ackland]
Stop the car! I'm gettng out! You're no longer here! Oh!
Go! Go! Go!
You went away. It'll make me feel better. But I don't know how I'm going to get through

Genius Annotation

In the video for Pet Shop Boys' version of Always on My Mind (an excerpt from their surreal music film It Couldn’t Happen Here), Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are seated in the front of a taxi cab, when an eccentric passenger gets in, played by British actor Joss Ackland. At the end of the song, he gets out of the car, which drives away.
