Gold Guns Girls Lyrics

[Pre-Chorus]
I remember when we were gambling to win
Everybody else said, "Better luck next time"
I don't wanna bend, let the bad girls bend
I just wanna be your friend
Why you givin' me a hard time?
I remember when we were gambling to win
Everybody else said, "HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA"

[Hook]
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?

Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?

[Bridge]
More and more, more and more, more and more
More and more and more and more, more and more
More and more and more and more
More and more, more and more, more and more
More and more and more and more, more and more
More and more and more and more
[Outro]
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
(More and more, more and more, more and more)
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Is it ever gonna be enough?

About

Genius Annotation

From Fantasies, single number four. This up-tempo, thumping and at times fuming rock track peaked at number 16 on the Alternative Songs Billboard in the USA.

Frontwoman Emily Haines explained to Drowned in Sound that after guitarist/producer James Shaw sent her a basic demo of this track, the lyrics were inspired by the 1983 gangster movie Scarface. Said Haines:

When Jimmy sent me this song as a rough sketch I listened to it over and over while watching Scarface, dreaming up ideas. The lyrics I wrote look at greed in all its forms, and the fact that we seem programmed to be insatiable. If we could do a million dollar video for this song it would be a remake of that montage scene from Scarface – including the tiger!"

In this song Emily is seeking to look at greed in all its forms, she has said in an interview that she thinks we are programmed to be insatiable.

This is what many would call running or a chase song. Testament to this are its uses in Test Drive Unlimited 2 and Zombieland.
