Genius Annotation

Written by Norihiko Hibino, longtime contributor to Hideo Kojima’s previous titles, this piece is the overarching theme to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Crafted with a Bond-like theme that mimics other spy movies from the era in which the game takes place, the theme greets players as they start the title, and crops up multiple times mid-game. Although seemingly generic and cheesy at first, as the plot of the game thickens, it becomes clear that the composition’s lyrics hold more relevance than expected.

“Snake Eater” was also featured as one of the playable tracks in the music game Karaoke Revolution Volume 3, which was also published by Konami and released in the same month and year as this game in the US.
