What Hurts the Most Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then and just let 'em out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though goin' on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I'm okay
But that's not what gets me

[Chorus]
What hurts the most was being so close
And having so much to say (Much to say)
And watching you walk away (Walk away)
Never knowing what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

[Verse 2]
It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go
But I'm doin' it
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still harder getting up, getting dressed, living with this regret
But I know if I could do it over
I would trade, give away all the words that I saved in my heart
That I left unspoken
[Chorus]
What hurts the most was being so close
And having so much to say (Much to say)
And watching you walk away (Walk away)
Never knowing what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do
Oh, oh
Hey, hey

[Bridge]
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though goin' on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again I pretend I'm okay
But that's not what gets me

[Chorus]
What hurts the most was being so close
And having so much to say (Much to say)
And watching you walk away (Walk away)
Never knowing what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do
What hurts the most (What hurts the most was)
Was being so close
And having so much to say (Much to say)
And watching you walk away (Walk away)
Never knowing what could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

Genius Answer

It’s a fabulous song, actually Rascal Flatts sung it first and they were a country band, so we did change it quite a lot with our version. On the album, we actually got a ballad version of it as well which I really enjoyed singing, and she shot the video in LA. The video about me being quite upset but still trying, having my friends trying to get me to party anyways and forget about it, but I can’t really shake the feeling of whats happened.
