Small, globose, olive green cactus from central Nuevo León in northern Mexico. Solitary, or offsetting later in life. 6-11 ribs with transverse ridges, 1-2 often short-lived spines, white flowers with pinkish midveins. Slow growing in cultivation.

The two species in this genus are small, low, dull-colored cacti (in nature) with sharply marked ribs and depressed, wooly centers. They are rock dwellers and pioneer species, growing on limestone or gypsum substrates. Their habitat is the western slopes of the Sierra Madre Oriental in central Nuevo León. A third species (valdezii) was recently described (in 2013) but is not currently accepted by online taxonomic authorities.
