This disc is getting two more tracks. I decided, since they're from around the same time as the "Farewell To The Crown" collab, the other two Chumbawamba/Oysterband tracks (released as Oysterband B-sides) deserved to be here, too. I considered adding 'We Don't Go To God's House Anymore' from the "Uneasy Listening" comp, but it just doesn't sound like it fits, even though it's from (just after) this time period.
As their lead singer passed away recently, I finished my expanded version of Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True". DISC ONE 01) Girl You Know It's True - American version 02) Baby Don't Forget My Number - revised American album version 03) More Than You'll Ever Know - revised version 04) Blame It On The Rain - American album version 05) Take It As It Comes - revised version 06) It's Your Thing - American version, plus un-glitched intro 07) Dreams To Remember - album version 08) All Or Nothing - with outro from German CD 09) Girl I'm Gonna Miss You - revised version 10) Girl You Know It's True (N.Y. Subway Extended Mix) - 12" version 11) Baby Don't Forget My Number - original American album version (possible misprint, this is nearly a different song!) 12) More Than You'll Ever Know - original version with removed bridge 13) Take It As It Comes - original version with alternate lyrics 14) Baby Don't Forget My Number - single version 15) Blame It On The Rain - single version 16) Dreams To Remember - single version 17) Too Much Monkey Business - single version from B-side of 'Number', with intro exclusive to the 45 18) Magic Touch - B-side of 'Girl You Know It's True' DISC TWO 01) Can't You Feel My Love - European version 02) Boy In The Tree - European version 03) Money - European version 04) Dance With A Devil 05) Girl I'm Gonna Miss You - original version 06) Baby Don't Forget My Number - European album version 07) Is It Love 08) Ma Baker 09) Girl You Know It's True - European version, aka Super Club Mix 10) Hush - European version 11) Too Much Monkey Business - album version, aka Maxi Mix 12) Blame It On The Rain - European album version, aka Super Club Mix 13) It's Your Thing - European version 14) All Or Nothing (US Club Mix) - with alternate lyrics (again, like 'Number', nearly a different song!) 15) Can't You Feel My Love - American version 16) Boy In The Tree - American version 17) Money - American version 18) Hush - American version

I haven't listened to the Foo Fighters in a while so I thought I'd check out the Greatest Hits set they put out. I didn't like it though, and Grohl's disdain for the idea probably didn't help. (Compare that to Jack White who did want to make a Greatest Hits album for the White Stripes and did a much better job.) It's especially weird how Grohl writes in the liner notes "these 16 songs are what we're calling our 'Greatest Hits'...a collection of the songs that have defined our band's identity to most people over the years." Two of those 16 songs are actually the SAME song, and two more are brand-new, meaning they're not hits and no one has even heard them until now, much less "over the years." I skipped the lone track from their live acoustic album (a song that was originally done for a B-side that's okay but never a favorite), and I included a couple of tracks from the next album Wasting Light (I don't have any favorites after that one so it was a good cutoff point). I ditched the new songs too. I wanted to fit it all on one single disc, and it came out to 19 tracks at rough 79 minutes. All classics, their best singles IMHO and most popular fan favorites, and all originals just to make it a proper, solid introduction as well. They do a lot of fun covers, but I'd rather collect them on a covers album. The Best of Foo (just kidding, terrible pun) 1. This Is a Call 2. I'll Stick Around 3. Big Me 4. Monkey Wrench 5. My Hero 6. Everlong 7. Walking After You [X-Files version] 8. Stacked Actors 9. Breakout 10. Learn to Fly 11. Aurora 12. All My Life 13. Times Like These 14. Best of You 15. DOA 16. The Pretender 17. Long Road to Ruin 18. Rope 19. Walk
A single disc reference compilation for Rush. I like some of their stuff from their earlier days (i.e. the '70s), so I just collected the highlights from that era. No edits, all full-length LP versions. Chronicles • 1974-1978 1. Finding My Way 5:06 2. Working Man 7:10 3. Anthem 4:22 4. Fly by Night 3:22 5. Bastille Day 4:37 6. We're going camping in a few weeks, so here's my contribution: In Tents God, I hate that ZZ Top song, but if the foo sh*ts...
I do comps all the time, and I've been looking for one to post here. I have a really good recent Grateful Dead comp from instead of not buying one of their high priced recent complete sets of concerts, I'll dig that up sometime. But for now, one burned CDR of live Red Hot Chili Peppers: 2011 Live EP - Wikipedia 1. "Look Around" (recorded 11/19/11 - Birmingham, UK) 3:48 2. "Dani California" (recorded 11/19/11 - Birmingham, UK) 5:10 3. "Monarchy of Roses" (recorded 11/15/11 - Manchester, UK) 3:28 4. "If You Have to Ask" (recorded 11/14/11 - Manchester, UK) 5:24 5. "Give It Away" (recorded 12/11/11 - Milan, Italy) 10:02 I'm with You World Tour (EP) - Wikipedia 1. "Breaking the Girl" (5/7/12 - Boston, MA) 5:20 2. "Wet Sand" (4/10/12 - Duluth, GA) 5:13 3. "Snow (Hey Oh)" (2/2/13 - Johannesburg, South Africa) 5:36 4. "The Power of Equality" (7/5/12 - Milan, Italy) 4:03 5. "Strip My Mind" (5/4/12 - Newark, NJ) 4:17 Live in Paris (EP) - Wikipedia 2015 1. "Dark Necessities" 5:06 2. "Give It Away" 4:55 3. "By the Way" 3:55 4. "We Turn Red" 3:23 5. "Go Robot" 4:58 A nice 76 min disc. All killer, no filler, and only Give it Away overlaps, but two very different versions. The first two were put out free by the band, and you can find them still for free without looking very hard. Tried as I might, I could only find the last one on Deezer, so I signed up for a free membership, and they still wouldn't play the entire songs. Scumbags. So I have a trial paid membership, and I'll cancel when the free part is up.

I agree regarding the weird feel of the Foos greatest. I was really bummed it didn't contain my favorite track, "Next Year". It's the song that introduced me to them since it was the theme song for the tv show "Ed". I can leave out "The Pretender", even though it's a great tune. It's just that I've heard it a billion times. I'm thankful for it though, since it THE song that taught my son how to play guitar. BTW, that White Stripes greatest is one I picked up on vinyl at Target. Love it.

A very good friend who has a fairly large music collection, surprisingly has no punk or new wave music at all. I made him a cd compilation of songs that I like, which I thought he might go for.
