Good day,
I have many haageocereus species, young plants and i am curious how old/tall they must be in order to flower?
This is a large genus poorly represented in collection and one of my favorites.
Thank you,
Haageocereus- when do they flower?

Re: Haageocereus- when do they flower?
Hi Cristi,
Would love to see photos of your many!
I only have a few Haageocereus species. The smallest is about 12inches (30cm) and the largest is a cluster of stems to 36inches (1m). Only the largest has bloomed for me so far. (H. divaricactispinus now pseudomelanostele)
So not much help, but between 1 and 3 feet tall is my only answer.

Re: Haageocereus- when do they flower?
Forgot to mention…that bloom was at the end of September and it bloomed again in late December or early January. Would have to look at the photo dates to be sure.
I got the plant in July 09. It was in a greenhouse under 60% shadecloth from a state that gets much colder in winter than I get. So the bloom time might be off a bit as it acclimated to my conditions. I've kept it outdoors in a large clay pot with no cover at all.
(I'm in So. California USA so winter here is not very cold but we do get rain this time of year)

Thank you, Darryl!
My plants are 2-4 years old, 4-12cm tall.It seems i have to wait for about 8-10 years, but the flowers are beautiful and well worth waiting.
Best regards,

Ahh, just wee seedlings.
Did you grow them from seed?
Absolutely worth the wait. This was the first Haageo flower I saw in person. I was quite excited that day! The flower color is similar to other genera, but there's still something about it that makes it quite unique.
