Written by Buddy Holly and Norman Petty back in 1957, “Maybe Baby” was first recorded by The Crickets and did pretty well in the charts, especially in the UK. It was, of course, covered many times since, most memorably by The Beatles in some barely audible rehearsals and later by Paul McCartney whose version was used in the 2000 film Maybe Baby. It’s one of Holly’s most simple and most accessible songs thanks to its hugely catchy melody and lyrics so ridiculously easy to remember they will have you humming the tune for ages long after hearing it.
