On a previous poll survey I had conducted on this site a couple months back, readers were asked what type of playlist they’d like to see next, and the most asked for was relating to food. So here you will find a comprehensive “food-inspired” collection of songs covering a vast array of music genres, styles and eras. Each of these selections feature various songs about or relating to food… as well as various other aspects of eating, drinking and dining, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Other key words are eat, candy, food, cafe, restaurant, drive-thru, etc. These key words must appear in the title to be included here.

I’m sure you will soon realize that a majority of these songs featuring food related terms don’t really have anything to do with food at all, but are a metaphor for other guilty pleasures of life, so to speak. So it’s no surprise how often food terminology comes up in song.

One More Interesting Note:

Another musical group that appears on the above list quite often is Cibo Matto. The band’s name, Cibo Matto is an Italian phrase that translates to “Crazy Food” and many of the tracks on their albums relate to food… if only in abstract form. The lyrics in their songs are primarily concerned with food, possibly used as a metaphor. Examples of some of their food songs include “Know Your Chicken,” “Apple”, “Birthday Cake,” Sugar Water,” “Artichoke,” “Beef Jerky,” and “White Pepper Ice Cream”.
