Habitat: Terrestrial in dryland between rocks

Etymology: We dedicate this magnificent and decorative species to Dr. Charles Esteves Pereira, the second eldest of Eddiés and Lindás five sons, supporting greatly the research on Brazilian bromeliads and cacti. Since 1981 Charles accompanied his father alone and together with Braun during numerous trips to unexplored areas of central and northeastern Brazil.
