This 1973 MG Midget Mk III was refurbished during previous ownership and was purchased by the seller in March 2020. The car is finished in yellow with a black soft top over a black and yellow interior and is powered by a 1,275cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Work completed in June 2020 is said to have included bleeding the brakes and clutch, changing the transmission fluid, and an oil service. This Midget is now offered at no reserve in Canada with clean Ontario registration.
Refurbishment by the previous owner included replacement of the floor pans followed by a repaint in yellow. Exterior features include a black vinyl top with a matching boot cover, chrome bumpers with rear overriders, a chrome driver-side mirror, and triple windshield wipers. Blemishes including bubbling on the driver-side rear fender, paint chips, and touch-ups are shown up close in the photo gallery below.
Gray-painted 13″ Rostyle wheels are wrapped in MotoMaster AW tires. Service in June 2020 reportedly included bleeding the brakes.
The cabin features seats reupholstered in black with yellow pleated inserts and piping, black door panels and dash pads, and salt-and-pepper carpets. Lap belts bear MG emblems on the buckles, and a Pioneer CD player has been added in the center stack and is connected to a multi-speaker enclosure installed behind the seats.
The dash houses Smiths instrumentation including a 100-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller.
The 1,275cc inline-four features dual SU carburetors and was rated at 54 horsepower and 67 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. An oil service, transmission fluid change, and clutch bleed were performed in June 2020.
