Witchcraft Backing Track Jazz - Here the student will be able to improvise on this song that was very successful in the late 1950s.

"Witchcraft" is a 1957 composition by Cy Coleman. The lyrics are by Carolyn Leigh. This theme was hugely successful in Frank Sinatra's voice and became a jazz standard.

The lyrics of this song are as follows:

“Those fingers in my hair
That sly come-hither stare
That strips my conscience bare
It’s witchcraft
And I’ve got no defense for it
The heat is too intense for it
What good would common sense for it
Do?

‘Cause it’s witchcraft, wicked witchcraft
And although I know it’s strictly taboo
When you arouse the need in me
My heart says “Yes, indeed” in me
“Proceed with what you’re leadin’ me to”
It’s such an ancient pitch
But one I wouldn’t switch
Cause there’s no nicer witch than you”

There are also beautiful recordings of this theme made by Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Bing Crosby, George Benson, Jimmy Bruno, Jack Jezzro and others.

This jazz standard can be found in "Real Book vol.3" on page 346 and in "The New Real Book vol.1" on page 407.

This backing track consists of drums, double bass and piano. The tempo is at 140bpm.
