Product Description

The NI-9242 C Series Voltage Input Module by National Instruments The 3-Channel, 24-Bit Voltage Input Module, known as the NI-9242 (Part Number: 783107-01), is a product from National Instruments. This model offers three channels for measurements between the signal and a neutral channel. The neutral channel provides measurements between the neutral terminal and the chassis ground. This setup facilitates connection to single-phase or three-phase measurement configurations, such as WYE and delta. The NI-9242 is fully compatible with the LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite from National Instruments, allowing users to create power metering, monitoring, or quality analysis applications. It is recommended to calibrate this device externally once per year. The NI-9242 is capable of handling signal levels up to 250 Vrms L-N and 400 Vrms L-L. It can acquire samples simultaneously at a rate of 50 kS/s for each channel. To adhere to standards like C37.90, IEC 61010 1, C37.60, IEC 60255 1, and more, users can integrate the NI 9242 into their systems. A part of the C Series, this Voltage Input Module features an independent ADC and signal path per channel. It presents the voltage between each Neutral terminal and the AI terminal, in addition to the voltage between the chassis ground and the Neutral terminal. For accurate signal representation, the NI 9242 is equipped with a blend of digital and analog filters and utilizes a screw terminal front connector. The NI-9242 is suitable for a variety of operating environments, with a temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C. When active, the module draws 332 mW of power (max) from the host chassis, and up to 50 µW when in sleep mode. Weighing 5.3 oz, the NI device boasts a recommended storage temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C. It also maintains non-condensing operating and storage humidity ranges of 10% RH to 90% RH and 5% RH to 95% RH, respectively. The device can endure random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g respectively, within a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz. Calibration of the NI-9242 is possible. Although the recommended calibration period varies for individual parts, most should be calibrated every one to two years to maintain accuracy. Options for high-quality NIST accredited calibrations via a 3rd party are available, with an average turnaround time of one to two weeks. Basic in-house calibration that aligns with manufacturer specifications can also be requested prior to shipping.
