Common Name Christy's Dendrobium [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's] - In China Mao Qiao Shi Hu - In Thailand Uang Sae Doi Pui

Flower Size 2" [5cm]

Found in northern Vietnam, northern Thailand, and southwestern China in highland primary cloud forests as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing, miniature epiphyte in forests at an elevation of 800 to 1600 meters with caespitose, subclavate, abbreviated pseudobulbs enveloped by 3 to 4, pellucid sheaths covered in black hairs and carries 2 towards the apex, lanceolate, obtuse, covered in black hairs below, obliquely bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal or lateral, very short, single flowered inflorescence that arises from the apex or on the sides of old and new pseudobulbs and carries fragrant flowers.

Similar to both D luekelianum and D bellatulum but D christyanum differs mostly in the flat central callus on the lip with the yellow or white apex.
